Circumcision is a brutal wounding of the newly born human male. It is a cosmetic surgery that is done during the period of time that nature meant for mother-baby to be creating a secure, trusting attachment. Research has shown that the circumcised baby experiences brain trauma that is never resolved … on it’s own.

We do know we can alter our brains now with a variety of modalities based in somatic, neural, and energy. My Soul Portraits involve all three.

I met Brendon at the Washington DC launch screening tour of his film. The next day we attended the March and I did a portrait for him in front of the White House.

Circumcision violates the rights of the boy to genital integrity. The foreskin that is removed from the newborn boy is the most neuron rich skin on his body. The size of the adult foreskin is about 3x5 inches. It is intended to protect his glan and it is a sliding mechanism. The neurons in the foreskin communicate to the brain about pleasure and intimacy. These are important mechanisms missing for the adult circumcized male.

Circumcision is illegal in the US to genitally mutilate girls but not boys since 1977. There are no women under age forty who have been circumcised in the US medical system, yet, it is legal for boys.

Circumcision creates a deep primal wound, in the preverbal, emotional, sensory part of the brain - the Limbic system. This is not accessible through talk therapy; and, the fears, emotions, and behaviors that result from it are not treatable with cognitive therapy. We have to go into the fear, into the body, into the trauma. This is SO big for a man or young boy who has experienced this trauma because it is so emotional.

The Soul Portrait and intensive process allows a man or child to go into the pain in a non-triggering, non-threatening way. It allows for support for the experience as the Higher Self, the Soul, the Consciousness, the early self knows what the man needs right now.
